Gravity Digital named FSB’s Microbusiness of the Year (East Midlands)

Derbyshire-based digital marketing agency, Gravity Digital, is celebrating again today after being named the Federation of Small Businesses & Worldpay UK Microbusiness of the Year for the East Midlands. The five person strong firm will now wait to hear if they will scoop the National Award, when all the regional winners in the UK compete for the prestigious title, at a ceremony on May 10 2017.

This award comes hot on the heels of Gravity Digital’s national Rural Business Award where the company was named the best Rural Creative or Media Agency in the country last October.

Owned and run by two directors, Andy Smith and Sharon Steven-Cash, the company provides a complete suite of digital marketing services for over 100 clients including household names like Mr Fothergill’s and Heck, as well as SMEs.

The FSB’s Head of Partnerships and Events, Juliette Brown explained why Gravity Digital has received this accolade:

“Congratulations to Gravity Digital on achieving the FSB & Worldpay UK Microbusiness of the Year area award for East Midlands.

“We received a high number of entries this year, therefore to have been selected as an area winner for this category is a fantastic achievement. What stood out for the judges was the impressive turnover based upon the excellent retention of high profile clients.

“With growth targets already having been achieved, zero client attrition and a clear strategy that has already won them awards, Gravity Digital are worthy winners of this area award and we wish them every success for the future. FSB are excited to be celebrating the successes of Britain’s SME businesses and celebrating their successes on both a regional and national level.”

Gravity Digital Director Sharon Stevens-Cash said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the East Midlands’ Microbusiness of the Year. We work hard to deliver the very best digital marketing programmes for our clients and for this to be recognised is pretty amazing. We are known for being down to earth and results-centred and this award is a testament to our hard working team and honest ethos.”

Gravity Digital, based at the Mill, in Lodge Lane, Derby and at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, was launched in October 2015 following the merger of two long standing Derbyshire-based firms – Essential Marketing Solutions and Out of the Blue, a specialist web design company.
With more than 100 clients, a 100% client retention rate and with the three Directors dedicating at least 100 hours each year to voluntary causes, the digital marketing firm is well known in the East Midlands.

Now into its third year, Gravity Digital has continued to grow and is already expecting to exceed their turnover targets again this year. Sharon concludes:

“We believe that the reason we are successful is because we offer a practical, no nonsense approach to the digital marketing world that cuts out jargon and offers businesses a way to measure and monitor results. We’d like to thank all of our loyal customers for their ongoing support and we look forward to working with them, and other East Midlands’ firms, in the future.”

Gravity Digital Scoop National Rural Business Awards

Gravity Digital Scoop National Rural Business Awards

Derbyshire based Gravity Digital Ltd were one of last nights prize-winners at the Rural Business Awards – the UK’s only dedicated national business awards for the rural community, run in partnership with the CLA and actively supported by the countryside sector as well as MPs across the UK. The Rural Business Awards are sponsored by Janine Edwards Wealth Management Ltd, Principal Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management.

Gravity Digital, a digital marketing agency with offices in Derby and Bakewell, was the outright winner in their category for Best Creative Business and the team were handed their prize at a glittering awards ceremony held at The Belfry Hotel & Resort in The West Midlands.

RBA Best Creative Company Derby

Gravity Digital was launched in October 2015 and united two successful existing Derby companies to provide digital marketing to businesses throughout the UK. Its two Directors are Sharon Steven-Cash and Andy Smith and together they offer many years’ experience in the digital marketing field.

Andy Smith, Director of Gravity Digital, said: “It’s amazing, we really didn’t expect to do so well. To be considered the UK’s Best Rural Creative Media Agency is quite something and this will certainly help boost our business.”

Fellow Gravity Director Sharon Stevens-Cash added: “We’re obviously absolutely delighted, and it means the world to us. This award recognises the hard work that all the team have put in and also a big thanks to our clients, without them we wouldn’t be here.”

Awards co-founder Anna Price said: “Gravity Digital was, we felt, quite simply a very professional and well established creative business with strong rural roots. We were very impressed with its down to earth approach, 100 per cent client retention rate, and structured and proactive programme of community and charity-based initiatives benefiting the local area. Well done Gravity – a clear winner in this category.”

The Rural Business Awards recognise excellence in a range of different business categories, from food and drink through to sport and tourism. Now in their second year, the awards were the brainchild of Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, who believe that rural enterprises are often overlooked by other business prize-giving schemes based in urban areas. The award scheme has been praised by MPs including Nicky Morgan and Andrew Bridgen, both of whom have lent their support to the successful initiative. Each year’s awards sees an overall “champion of champions” which this year was Landmark Systems Ltd, a Sussex-based computer software company which won Best Rural Professional Services Business for its unique work helping rural customers run their businesses effectively.

CLA Director General Helen Woolley said: “I am delighted to have been a part of the judging panel and to see first-hand the passion for rural business demonstrated by all the finalists. There were some outstanding entries and my congratulations go to all the winners, every award is truly deserved.”

Rural Business Awards sponsor, Janine Edwards of Janine Edwards Wealth Management, Principal Partner of St James’s Place Wealth Management says: “The Rural Business Awards has seen a number of commendable and outstanding finalists. It has been a pleasure for my team and I to be involved in the whole process, and we are delighted to see that each and every winner has achieved the recognition they deserve. It is a huge accomplishment for all the finalists to be involved in such a high-profile event and I’d like to congratulate them all on their success now and in the future!”

We’re finalists for an award

We’re finalists for an award

Here at Gravity Digital we’re feeling pretty pleased with ourselves. We’ve found out that we are finalists in another award!

This time it’s the Derby Telegraph Business Awards, where we are a finalist for Creative Industries Business of the Year.   We’re absolutely thrilled because we know that the competition is stiff here in Derby.

This got us wondering, what have we done to deserve another accolade?  We asked the judges why they’d chosen us as one of just a few finalists in this prestigious award scheme…

Jack Hayes, Celebrity Sales Manager at Champions After Dinner Speakers, and represents the sponsors and judges for the Derby Telegraph Awards, said:
“Making the shortlist in the Derby Telegraph Business Awards is no mean feat. The standard and quality of this year’s entries were extremely high which is why the Gravity team should be very proud of their achievement. The shortlisted companies have had to demonstrate creative talent, innovative thinking and a high commitment to quality, something Gravity offered in abundance.”

One of our three Directors at Gravity Digital, Sharon Stevens-Cash, sums up how we feel:
“It’s really humbling to be have been named as finalists in the Derby Telegraph Awards. We are thrilled that our hard work and dedication is being recognised by such a well-recognised Awards scheme. This announcement follows hot on the heels of our success as FSB & Worldpay Small Business of the Year (East Midlands), as named by the Federation of Small Businesses last month.

This also builds on our success last year as the Best Rural Creative or Digital Business in the UK-wide CLA sponsored Rural Business Awards in October 2016.
“We are lucky to have such a wonderful team at Gravity Digital and so many clients that are more than happy to endorse the work that we do. We believe that our commitment to evaluating and proving the results we achieve for our clients plays a large part in why we have been recognised and we are very grateful to all of our clients that have testified on our behalf – and of course to all of the judges at the Derby Telegraph Business Awards too!

“We’re really looking forward to finding out if we’ve secured the top spot at the Awards Ceremony in June – we’ll let you know when we do!”
